81-virtue / Core Teachings of Confucius 仁 - VIRTUE ) about the core teachings of Confucius is the
Benevolence 仁 = Love.
Love Benevolence (ren 仁爱 ai) is the most emphasized by Confucian 孔夫子, and Justice / Obedience (正义 zheng yi = Justice) is emphasized
by Mencius, and Growing Strong Himself (自强 zi jiang = Self renewal) which is emphasized by Xunzi 荀子.
First we try to discuss about 'Love Benvolence (仁爱 ai ren)' its Confucian, can be decomposed into three terms:
- Kinship love (亲亲 之 爱 zhi qin qin ai)
- How to be faithful and as forgiving (忠恕 之 道 dao zhong zhi shu)
- Compassion (侧 隐 之 心 ze yin zhi xin)
(亲亲 之 爱 zhi qin qin ai) means love of his own relatives, first to the mother's father (双亲 shuang qin), then the younger sister. Devotion to the Mother's father called Xiao 孝, love for the brothers called 悌 Ti, Ti + so Xiao 孝 悌 = 亲亲 仁爱 ren qin qin = ai (Love Benevolence), so 'Benvolence Love' is a basic sense of human love. Since Confucius thought that someone would love their father almiah mother, brother brother. This feeling does not necessarily have to be taught or trained, if this feeling should also be taught that means animals. Even animals have to feel this love does not need to be taught, where the mother will automatically protect and cherish her. Animals are able to do so, let alone humans. So love is the foundation of human feelings. And love can be developed and disseminated to others. Why? Because such Xiao 孝 or devotion / love for the mother's father, then by itself should termaqsuk love for Mother Father Mother Father himself, so keep up should be in love with the grandparents of the grandparents Mother Father, being in front of you has explained that she must also love to children (父慈子孝 fu ci zi xiao), so you must continue down Mother love with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren have the love of grandchildren ciciknya kept down. Ti 悌 is thoroughly love you, so brothers from brothers and sisters also have loved each other, love for brothers and cousins continue to expand mecintai continue to develop a sense of kinship ... love to all family and friends of relatives continued to expand ... the end all be loved. So in harizontal and vertically all loved each other ... eventually all the people loved the world ... and the world is full of love .... This is called 'Love Benevolence' (仁爱 ai ren).
Confucianism is not only proposing the reasons and arguments for air-air-'Love Benevolence ', but also gives instructions on how to implementation 忠恕 zhong shu Namely:
- 忠 zhong = 己 欲立 而立 人 己 欲 达 而 达 人 yu ju li li ren er, er da da yu ji ren = proactive sex benevolence (也 即 好事 要 与 别人 分享, 不可 独占 ye ji shi yao hao yu bie ren fen xiang, bu to du zhan) Love your neighbor as yourself, or Everything you want so that others do unto you, do likewise to them. ) ***** Or in other words if it does well, let us both enjoy, do not just enjoyable for myself only.
- 恕 shu = 己 所 不欲 勿 施 于 人 ji suo bu yu, wu suo yu ren = sex benevolence passively. (Do not do that you do not like to others)
But that should be emphasized that the proactive and passive here is something that is not related to the assessment of more and less. Medium according to Confucius 'love of benevolence' which is passive 恕 shu is more important than 'love of benevolence' proactive ie 忠 zhong.
Zigong 子贡 once asked his teacher: "Teacher, teacher can give us one word alone that we can use throughout our lives and can make us do not do wrong?" *****
Confucius replied: "其 恕 乎 己 所 不欲 勿 施 于 人 = qi shu hu, ji suo bu yu, wu suo yu ren" which has meaning if you as a man can not remember so many rules, remember the words this. "Do not do that you do not like the others" bear will not go wrong.
Why 恕 shu is more important than 忠 zhong? There are three reasons:
- Anyone can do it.
To do "Loving your neighbor as yourself, or Everything you want so that people do to you, do so to them" is not something easy to do. Because it is easy to do what we want and achieve his wish, but if we ourselves fail how can help people to succeed, it is extremely difficult. But if we do not want, and we do not force others to do so, it would be very easy.
- All would agree that is, I want to help you to do something and help you succeed, but I have no desire for it, and I am not willing to achieve it, now I have been quite sufficient, why bother trying again for that. But if we say we do not want to get yelled at, and I do not scold you, I do not want to hit and I did not hit you, I do not want to be insulted and I'm not insulting you, I do not want to starve and I do not want you too hungry, would you do it ? This of course you would agree, not even a person who said it would not do it. So would all agree ....
- Do not do what you do not like to others (己 所 不欲 勿 施 于 人 = qi shu hu, ji suo bu yu, wu suo yu ren). This attitude is very important, this attitude that shows respect for everyone. I will not force my stance to others and this attitude is an attitude that is very respectful of others.
This sentence has become the 'Definition of Gold' for mankind the world today. and has been carved in the House of the United Nations (UN).
UN GA Resolution 36/55 passed has established a Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Intolerance and of Discrimination based on Religion and Belief. Through this resolution, no one shall be subject to coercion, in order not to reduce their freedom to have a religion or a belief that has been selected. In essence, the resolution mentions no one should be subjected to discrimination by the state, institutions, groups or individuals because of religion or belief.
In 1993 the "International Conference of the Inter-Religious Figures World" has reached two agreements "Golden Rule" For Peaceful Coexistence between: Man with Man; State by State; Religion with Religion: Culture to Culture. Namely:
• humanize humans (把 人 当 人 ren ba dang ren)
• Do not do that you do not like to others (己 所 不欲 勿 施 于 人 ji suo bu yu, wu suo yu ren)
The motto above to view and understanding common to all leaders and people of faith around the world.
As it is known that the two sentences that became the motto is there is inter-related, because we humanize humans, we as humans should not impose what we do not want to give to others as fellow human beings. Humanizing the human being is 'Love Benevolence' (仁爱 ai ren). And the motto of the second sentence above is the 'Confucian Thought', to see how great this figure of Confucius, which has spawned this idea 2500 years ago, but it is still current. It is not only a valuable cultural heritage for the Chinese, but also for all mankind on earth.
Confucius say: 仁者 爱人 ren ren ai zhe: How do people love?
The core of Confucian Thought, among others, is 'Love Benevolence' (仁爱 ai ren), from this developed into Xiao Ti 孝悌 = love / devotion among his family and 忠恕 zhong shu = Faithful and forgiving. Ethics will emphasize the views of family, and how to regulate the principle of air-tolerance between humans carefully.
